FRESHWATER FISHING AND OVERNIGHT PACKAGES
Fly-In River Drift
Your journey starts at the Tofino floatplane dock where your guide will load the gear into a De Havilland Beaver Float Plane. Our flight is approximately 30 minutes across the vast waterways of inner Clayoquot Sound, with breathtaking views of the open Pacific and coastal mountains. You often have the bonus of viewing Grey Whales and Black Bears enroute to a pristine mountain lake situated in an untouched Rainforest valley.
Within minutes of landing, you can be casting from shore while your guide prepares the 14 ft. NRS Expedition Series Raft and gear for the next leg of the journey - a drift down the outlet stream. Fishing action can starts immediately, with the first pool often holding numerous Cutthroat Trout and Steelhead. As this pristine river meanders past the majestic old growth forest, the numerous pools, riffles and slots create a diversity of fishable waters for both fly and gear. After fishing our way downstream for the day, we arrive at our secluded river camp, nestled below the canopy of giant Cedar and Spruce trees. This comfortable tent camp is situated along some of the most productive waters on the river, where the elated outburst “fish on!” is often heard as your guide prepares hearty meals and stokes the welcoming campfire. On the last day we often fish the “camp water” in the morning before fishing our way downstream to the tidal waters of Clayoquot Sound, where the floatplane awaits to transport us back to Tofino.
These 100% catch and release fishery for true native Steelhead, Trout and Salmon start in November and peaks in March and April. The fall runs of Salmon show in late September through November.
Our river drift excursions often end with exuberant guests stating that the “fish were a bonus”.
Fly In Lake - Overnight Packages
A unique West coast adventure you won’t soon forget……We start our journey in Tofino where your guide will load the gear into a De Havilland Beaver Float Plane. The 20-30 minute flight carries us across the vast waterways of inner Clayoquot Sound, with breathtaking views of the open Pacific and coastal mountains. You often have the bonus of viewing Grey Whales and Black Bears from your aerial vantage point. Your pre-selected choice of pursuing Rainbow or Cutthroat Trout we determine which specific pristine mountain lake hidden among the majestic coastal mountains will be our destination.
Your guide will assemble your personal pontoon boat and your choice of fly or spinning gear upon disembarking the plane. Canoes and Rowboats may also be available for those that prefer this method of accessing the prime spots within these small to medium sized lakes. Most of the lakes we access provide exceptional fishing for Cutthroat Trout in the 12-20 inch range. We also provide our guests the option of fishing one of a few unique hideaway lakes that produce trophy class Rainbow Trout in the 2-8 lb. range.
Peak season for this exhilarating catch and release fishery is April through November.
