Billy Spensley

Billy has been guiding in the Tofino area since 2005. His passion for fishing and being on the water stems from his time spent sailing the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound in a 34 ft sailboat his father built. By age 10 they had bought a boat in England and sailed through Europe for six months before eventually bringing the boat home. Each summer, they sailed the same boat along the east coast of Vancouver Island, up to the Haida Gwaii, and eventually circumnavigating Vancouver Island. Naturally, they fished a lot of the time whether it was casting for rock fish or trolling kelp beds for Salmon.
After high school Billy spent time at Langara Island, learning the “ins and outs” of being a professional fishing guide. After doing some extensive travelling and a few years of tree planting, he found his way to Tofino, lured at first by the surf, but now definitely by the dynamic fishing of Clayoquot Sound.
